Ocean Conservancy's International Coastal Cleanup

This Saturday, September 17th, marks the 31st edition of Ocean Conservancy's International Coastal Cleanup. In 2015, over 800,000 volunteers at beach cleanups around the world removed over 18 million pounds of trash.

By joining in the cleanup, not only will you be making your waterways a better, cleaner place, you'll also be contributing to an amazing set of data that helps us understand what plastic items are most commonly found on beaches worldwide. Armed with this information conservation organizations globally can work together to eliminate the single use plastic items that cause the biggest problems.

CLICK HERE to find a cleanup near you.

Post pictures of your day using the hashtag #2016cleanup and #SailorsfortheSea to share how you're taking action to stop plastic pollution.
