New B&G® Triton2 Multi-Purpose Display Sets New Standards in Sailing Instruments

B&G’s New Instruments with Transflective LCD Technology Boast Exceptional Contrast and Visibility in All Lighting Conditions.

PressReleaseBandGHeader.jpg B&G®, the world’s leading sailing navigation and instrument specialist is pleased to announce the new multi-purpose Triton2 sailing instrument and Triton2 Pilot System Control Pad.

The Triton2 sailing instrument provides sailors with the clearest display of key data available, using “one key” functionality that can show wind, speed, depth, AIS data and B&G’s specialized sailing features such as SailSteer and Laylines. Sailors can quickly switch between pages to access the information using its highly responsive silicon keys making the Triton2 display easy to use with wet or gloved hands and in all weather conditions. The unit is waterproof to the IPX7 standard. Combined with a pilot system and controller, the new Triton2 can also function as an accurate and reliable sailing autopilot controller.

Transflective LCD technology makes use of reflected sunlight where available to provide superior daytime visibility and lower power consumption when compared with traditional backlit-only displays. Combined with highly efficient LED backlighting, the Triton2 display is a clear winner, day or night. The Triton2’s LCD is optically bonded to its anti-reflective display window, eliminating the possibility of condensation or fogging within the unit.

“B&G’s Triton series was first released in 2012 and very quickly became the ‘must have’ instrument on sailboats across the world,” said Leif Ottosson, president and CEO of Navico. “The Triton2 is clearer, slimmer at just 8mm thin, and even easier to use – all while retaining our award-winning B&G sailing-specific features.

Designed for easy installation, the Triton2 offers a front-mount option that requires no access to the back of the console or panel for installation and single-cable NMEA 2000® connectivity for both power and data. An intuitive on-screen menu system makes it simple to configure pages suited to the specific vessel and available instrument data. The Triton2 display is compatible with a wide range of instruments, sensors and other NMEA 2000 data sources.

In addition to the Triton2 sailing instrument, the Triton2 Pilot System Control Pad is compatible with a wide range of B&G pilot computers. The keypad is a full-featured autopilot controller offering intelligent SailSteer functionality, as well as Smart Maneuvers to control and tack at the touch of a button, and chartplotter integration to enable waypoint and route navigation.

The Triton2 display (Minimum Retail Price $549 U.S.) and Pilot Keypad Controller (Minimum Retail Price $269 U.S.) will be available in September 2016. The Triton² autopilot controller and display are also available as a package (Minimum Retail Price $799 U.S.).
