Re-Unites Holiday & Lazy Days Marinas on Lake Lanier
Westrec
Marinas is pleased to announce exciting news at the south end of the premier
Georgia boating destination, Lake Lanier. The current owner of Holiday and
Sunrise Cove Marinas, Westrec has now acquired Aquamarina Lazy Days Marina.
With its merited reputation for marina management, Westrec is implementing
improvements and upgrades at the properties.
Originally Lazy Days and Holiday Marinas were owned and operated by the Beachem
family, who also planned and built both marinas. Bill Anderson, President of
Westrec Marinas, says, “We are delighted to be able to bring that legacy full
circle and once again operate the two marinas under one ownership and
management team.”
Lake Lanier—located approximately 45 minutes north of Atlanta—is a 38,000-acre
lake that is considered the primary boating destination for Atlanta area
residents. The Lazy Days Marina contains 75 state-of-the-art wet slips for
boats up to 125’ in length and dry rack storage for 555 boats up to 36’ in
length.
“With
Lazy Days adjacent to Holiday, managing and operating both with one proven team
will provide our customers and Lake Lanier boaters with the best possible
service and amenities,” says Alex Laidlaw, CMM, with Westrec.
Jeff Ellis, Westrec’s Chief Financial Officer, echoes Laidlaw’s comments. “It’s
not often that a property of this size and quality is on the market, and to
have it adjacent to one of our marinas made it an opportunity we couldn’t pass
up.”
Laidlaw said that Westrec has a corporate investment plan that includes
additions and improvements at Lazy Days. “We’re building a state-of-the-art
bath house with six private units that includes showers, vanities and toilets,”
he says. “We’ve seen this at other high-end marinas so we’re bringing this
innovation to Lake Lanier. It’s just one example of how Westrec’s local
management stays committed to the Westrec philosophy of continually seeking
ways to improve facilities and services.”
Additional upgrades are also planned for Lazy Days: the pump out for dry
storage and no-wake buoys will be replaced. Pier 11 will be relocated back to
its original position. Certain areas will be repaved and/or seal coated and
striped. The original security routine in place for many years will be
reinstated with new upgraded traffic gates.
“Holiday Marina also continues its improvements schedule, including a new fuel
dock. With concrete decking, it has 14 pumps on six dispensers with credit card
readers. It’s all new and includes our new ship’s store,” says Laidlaw. The
marina sells premium gas, diesel and the new REC-90 octane non-ethanol
fuel.
Additionally, Holiday is renovating bath houses on the property and the company
is renovating E Dock to a high-end high-roof covered dock for cruisers. It will
have twenty (20) 44’ slips and ten (10) 52’ slips.
